The Greater Baltimore Committee (GBC), Baltimore Development Corporation and the Office of the Mayor of Baltimore recently announced the winners of the 49th annual Mayor’s Business Recognition Awards. This year, 14 organizations were recognized for their significant leadership and commitment to improving the quality of life in the city.
The GBC revamped its awards program to recognize companies and organizations that exemplify at least one of five categories: economic opportunity, ambassador for the Baltimore region, local investment, supporting safe and vibrant communities, and community redevelopment. The winners include businesses such as B&O Railroad Museum, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield and UnitedHealthcare.
In May, the GBC unveiled a multi-year agenda at its annual meeting following its merger with the Greater Baltimore Economic Alliance. The agenda includes 12 initiatives to support the organization’s combined role in shaping the region’s economic future and driving shared impact for over 500 businesses and organizations committed to the region. Initiatives mainly focus on economic opportunity, transportation and infrastructure, and collective impact.
The winners will be celebrated at an event on December 13 at the M&T Bank Exchange at the France Merrick Performing Arts Center in Baltimore.
