Junior Daneev Imbert is recognized about campus for her active leadership roles in more than half a dozen organizations, clubs and departments. Regardless of her busy schedule, Imbert’s principal concentrate is producing time to bring joy to other people.

Imbert located her niche as a leader in higher college and knew she wanted to take that to college. The daughter of Haitian and Dominican immigrants, she utilized her talent for leadership to enable minority students locate their residence at the Catholic University of America.

“My aspirations and determination usually stemmed from all the sacrifices (my parents) produced for me and my siblings,” Imbert mentioned.

Imbert is a founding member and president of the Migrant Rights Coalition, a campus cultural organization that supports the dignity and rights of migrants, immigrants, refugees, and initial-generation Americans by way of advocacy, access, and inclusivity.

“Knowing that I am producing a distinction in the CUA neighborhood and amplifying voices that go unnoticed or unheard is what inspires me to hold going,” Imbert mentioned. “Even as a student I make a distinction.”

As a initial-year student, Imbert participated in Take Flight, a Center for Cultural Engagement system that follows initial-generation college students as they transition to university life. Now a senior, she provides back to mentoring initial-year students.

Imbert is also involved in leadership roles in the Black Student Union, Ministry of Justice Campus Solutions and Workplace, and Orientation and functions with the Workplace of Campus Activities and the Student Philanthropy Council.

Imbert mentioned she receives unbelievable assistance from the Center for Cultural Engagement in her service perform. She also credits her classes at the Busch College of Company for forming leadership.

“There are lots of factors I have discovered about myself when taking these classes study how to be a very good leader and how to assistance other people,” mentioned Imbert.

In the summer time of 2022, Imbert took a trip to Los Angeles for Campus Ministry and Justice Solutions serving people today in rehabilitation, inspiring her to perform far more in gang rehabilitation and immigration soon after graduation.

Imbert hopes to earn a master’s degree in social perform and perform with nonprofit organizations. She also dreams of opening her personal company, such as a dance studio or recreation center for kids from low-revenue communities.
