Although some progress has been made, gender inequality in science remains a significant issue, with only one in three female researchers worldwide. This persistent problem is the result of numerous barriers that women scientists continue to face, which discourages girls from pursuing careers in science and impedes their advancement in this field.
To address these obstacles and build on the key findings and recommendations of the UNESCO Global Forum “The Future of Women and Girls in Science” and the AFNEUS Congress “Women in Science,” an event will be held to commemorate International Day of Women and Girls in Science 2024. The event, organized by L’Association federative nationale des étudiant. es universitaires scientifiques (AFNEUS), will unveil the UNESCO Call for Action “Transforming the Gender Gap in Science” and provide valuable insights into initiatives, resources, and best practices to implement this call to action.
