A growing number of pro-Israel volunteers are using social media and the internet to expose officials who support Palestinian terror in various positions and countries. One such group, JewishEdmonton, successfully campaigned to remove Samantha Pearson as director of the University of Alberta’s Sexual Assault Center in Canada. Pearson had organized a pro-Palestinian student action on campus and signed an open letter condemning Israel for its military operation in Gaza Strip.

Following the publication of screenshots of the open letter by JewishEdmonton, there was an immediate outpouring of public outrage, leading to Pearson’s firing. University of Alberta President Bill Flanagan clarified that the new leadership of the Sexual Assault Center will ensure that the university’s commitments are met and made it clear that Pearson’s personal views did not reflect those of the university.

In addition, University of Alberta officials stated that the event scheduled by Students for Justice in Palestine was not sanctioned or endorsed by the university. They also noted that the group is not recognized or funded by the university. A vigil associated with the group will be held Nov. 21 outside the University Arts Center, with campus security and Edmonton police present to maintain law and order.
