Australia has secured their fourth Under-19 World Cup title by defeating India by 79 runs. This marks the fourth time Australia has won the tournament, with previous victories in 1988, 2002 and 2010. Only India has won more titles, with a total of five crowns, including the previous edition in 2022.

India’s loss to Australia in the final ended their streak of 22 consecutive ODI matches for the under-age players won during the chase. Their previous defeat in the chase came in August 2018 against Sri Lanka. Despite the defeat, India’s Udai Saharan proved to be a standout player, scoring 397 runs in the tournament, the second highest by a captain in a single edition.

The win for Australia means they have now surpassed England’s previous highest chase of 242 for 3 in the 1998 edition with a total of 253 for 7 against India in the final.
