Bayside Soccer hosted its first soccer tournament on November 11 at the Hannahville Ice and Turf Sports Complex in Wells. The tournament featured three divisions of play for 12U, 14U, and 16U, with teams from Iron Mountain 906 FC, Houghton FC, and Bayside Soccer and its affiliate Delta United Soccer Academy participating.

The goal of the tournament was to provide a fun and competitive event for the players while raising funds for the high school team. Organizer Amy Blahnik said, “This is our first time hosting a tournament and we look forward to having more in the spring and next fall.”

The matches were played in a circle format, with three-on-three matches. The top two teams at the end of group play had a playoff for first place. The results were as follows: 906 FC won the 12U pool, Houghton FC Red won the 14U pool, and the 16U winners were from Bayside – Delta United Soccer Academy.

Bayside Soccer was founded in 1996 to provide recreational soccer for the region, focusing on player development, teamwork, and positive coaching. Their programs include summer recreation soccer and a high school club program that competes at the regional level. Delta United Soccer Academy operates under the umbrella of Bayside Soccer and has a fall season as well as a winter/spring season with nearly 60 players ages ten and up. They compete with other clubs in UP and attend tournaments in Wisconsin, providing high quality training for players interested in advancing in soccer.
