The Pittsburgh Steelers have made two key signings in the past week, adding to their roster as they continue to strengthen their position. On Monday, they welcomed Myles Jack to their practice squad. On Tuesday, the team is set to bring in another experienced running back, Blake Martinez. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Martinez has been cut from the Panthers’ practice squad.

Blake Martinez previously signed with the Panthers earlier this month after coming out of retirement. He retired while playing for the Raiders in November 2022 in order to focus on a profitable Pokemon trading card business. However, he returned to football following being banned from selling tickets on a major online marketplace.

Before his brief retirement, Martinez played four games with the Raiders and three games with the Giants in 2021 before tearing his ACL. Over his career spanning five seasons, he had played a total of 77 games for the Packers and Giants, accumulating an impressive 706 tackles, 13 sacks, four interceptions, four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. These signings demonstrate the Steelers’ dedication to bolstering their linebacker corps with experienced players.
