Boston’s food scene experienced a whirlwind of changes between June 24 and June 30. The Italian restaurant Cucina LaRosa in Wilmington, which has been in operation for 50 years, closed its doors. Meanwhile, ButterBird opened at Arsenal Yards in Watertown, a fast-casual restaurant from a renowned chef and restaurateur.
Tragically, two popular restaurants suffered significant damage due to fires. The Squealing Pig in Boston’s Mission Hill neighborhood was engulfed by flames, causing extensive damage to the restaurant and bar. Similarly, a four-alarm fire heavily damaged the Jacob Wirth Building in Boston’s Theater District, which was once home to a landmark Boston restaurant and was being restored.
