Last month, Lakewood Health System in Staples officially announced the construction of its new Lakewood Cancer Center. The 19,270-square-foot addition will be located southwest of the clinic and groundbreaking is planned for this spring.

The decision to move forward with the Cancer Center was made due to the significant growth of Lakewood’s oncology team and services over the past two years. In addition, there has been a steady increase in provider coverage, making expansion necessary.

With its state-of-the-art facilities, including 14 infusion rooms and an in-house PET/CT scanning machine, the Cancer Center will provide advanced cancer care to patients in a rural setting like Staples. This is unprecedented and will greatly benefit both patients and healthcare providers.

Among the amenities, the Cancer Center will have a dedicated reception and waiting area, with oncology managers located in the new space for easy patient access. This project represents a significant step for the local health system and will greatly benefit the community.
