Bridging the Diagnostic Divide: Harnessing the Power of Diagnostic Network Optimization at the 77th World Health Assembly

As the 77th World Health Assembly approaches, experts will gather in Geneva to address the most pressing health challenges. One year after a landmark resolution on strengthening diagnostics, it is clear that access to diagnostic services remains a major issue, especially in low- and middle-income countries. Fragmented supply chains and market barriers continue to create barriers to accurate and rapid diagnostic testing, which is crucial for effective treatment and care of threats such as HIV, tuberculosis, emerging infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance.

To address these challenges, many countries use Diagnostic Network Optimization (DNO) to identify gaps, limitations and inefficiencies in health networks and service delivery. However, much of the information gathered during these processes remains underutilized, making progress difficult. That’s why on May 30th Foreign Polici and Cepheid are hosting an event to discuss ways to use DNO insights more effectively.

The event will take place from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM CET on May 30th, 2024. During this time, experts will explore how DNO can be used to better detect pathogens, strengthen global health systems, achieve universal health coverage and combat antimicrobial resistance. This event provides an opportunity for countries to share their experiences and learn from one another in order to improve access to diagnostic services for all people worldwide.
