On Tuesday night, the Buffalo Sabers will celebrate Jeff Skinner’s 1,000th NHL game when they face the Washington Capitals. This marks the second meeting between these two teams this season, with the Capitals winning 4-3 in overtime in their last game.

To commemorate the occasion, a pre-game ceremony will kick off at 6:55 p.m., featuring special gifts for early arrivals. The first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive a commemorative red cap with Skinner’s signature, while there will be Skinner-themed giveaways throughout the night.

The Sabers will wear their black and red alternate jerseys for the last time this season, featuring a commemorative jersey patch celebrating Jeff Skinner’s 1,000th game. Buffalo is currently 18-19-1 at home and 35-35-5 overall, with a -5 differential.

In contrast, the Capitals have a 16-16-4 record on the road and are 36-27-10 overall with a difference of -30. Rasmus Dahlin has been a standout player for the Sabres with 17 goals and 36 assists, while Tage Thompson has been on fire with seven goals and six assists in his last ten games.

On the other hand, Tom Wilson scored 17 goals and added 15 assists for the Capitals, while Alexander Ovechkin has eight goals and two assists in the past ten games. In their last ten games, the Sabres are 5-5-0 while the Capitals are 6-3-1.

Unfortunately for both teams, injuries have taken their toll. The Sabres will be without Matthias Samuelsson this season due to an upper body injury and Lucas Rousek is day to day with a facial injury. Meanwhile, Nicklas Backstrom is out due to a hip injury for the Capitals; Rasmus Sandin is day to day with a lower body injury; and Ethan Beer is ruled out for personal reasons.

Despite these challenges, both teams are looking forward to an exciting matchup that promises to be full of action and emotion as they celebrate Jeff Skinner’s milestone achievement.
