The Cameroon Football Association expressed surprise and disappointment after learning that the Ministry of Sports had appointed Marc Brice as the new coach of the national team, replacing Rigobert Song. The federation stated that they were not consulted on the decision and that it was made in violation of Regulation No. 2014/384 on the organization of national football teams.

The federation is currently investigating the situation and is in contact with FIFA to resolve the issue without their knowledge. They are trying to understand why Brice was appointed without their involvement, and are seeking clarification on the matter. Song’s contract expired after the African Cup of Nations, but he led the team to a commendable 16th place finish in the tournament earlier this year.

The federation emphasized the importance of adhering to FIFA regulations governing football teams, particularly when it comes to government involvement in national sports. They are hoping that a resolution can be reached quickly so that they can continue to support and promote Cameroonian football.
