Patrick Cantlay, the fifth-ranked golfer in the world, has decided to part ways with his hat sponsor, Goldman Sachs. According to DealBook, Goldman Sachs has decided not to renew Cantlai’s contract which he signed in 2020. Initially, Cantlai represented Goldman’s online consumer banking platform, Marcus, on his headgear but more recently had only the name Goldman. “We are constantly evaluating the firm’s partnerships and at this time our logo will no longer appear on his hat,” a Goldman spokesperson told DealBook.

This is not the first news about Pat’s hat. A few months ago, rumors emerged that he was refusing to wear a hat at the Ryder Cup in protest at not being paid to compete in the international team competition. Cantlai denied these claims saying he didn’t put the hat on because his headgear didn’t fit well. Additionally, Cantlai was also scheduled to play the Hero World Challenge in two weeks in the Bahamas but was stripped of his final roster commitment along with friend Xander Schaufel.
