Photographer Pascal Fouquet from Orlando, Florida has captured a rare sight of a rocket passing through the moon and has been awarded first place in the United States National Award for the 2024 Sony World Photography Awards. This award program is a partnership between Sony and the World Photography Organization and receives hundreds of thousands of photo submissions from all over the world.

Fouquet took his winning shot just before the new year, during the launch of the USSF-52 mission. He had only 48 hours to prepare for this opportunity and chose an unconventional location – an open field behind a hospice center that was 14.8 miles away from the launch pad.

Using a Nikon D850 camera, Fouquet adjusted his settings to capture the details of the moon rather than the rocket. The shutter speed was set to 1/1600 of a second to capture that split-second moment when the Falcon Heavy passed in front of the Moon. This was the seventh launch of Space Force’s secretive X-37B space plane, which remains in orbit at this time after its last mission lasted 908 days.

The photograph showcases Fouquet’s skill and dedication in capturing such a unique moment. His work has been recognized nationally, demonstrating his talent as a photographer. The partnership between Sony and World Photography Organization provides photographers like Fouquet with a platform to showcase their work and gain recognition for their skills.

In summary, photographer Pascal Fouquet captured an incredible shot of SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket passing through the moon during USSF-52 mission launch, earning him first place in United States National Award for 2024 Sony World Photography Awards. His dedication and skill have been recognized nationally, providing photographers with an opportunity to gain recognition through partnerships like this one between Sony and World Photography Organization.
