The upcoming 2024 Hungarian National Championship marks the highly anticipated return of Christoph Milak to competition. The 24-year-old world record holder is set to compete in six events during the April 9-12 Olympic qualifiers, including the 50, 100, and 200 meter freestyle, as well as the 50, 100, and 200 meter butterfly. Despite being out of the pool since last year’s Hungarian Championships, Milak has already qualified for the Olympics in both the 100m (50.80) and 200m (1:52.58). He resumed training in mid-January and aims to be in top shape for the Paris Olympics.

Other notable athletes competing at the Hungarian Nationals include Zalan Sarkani, who holds the PAC-12 conference record in men’s 1650 freestyle with a time of 14:23.01 at last year’s championships. He later won an NCAA Championship title in that event with a time of 14:30.57. Nicolet Padar, Gabor Zombori, and Boglarka Kapas are also set to compete at this year’s championship.
