Closure of city sports fields means that all leased city fields, including city school fields, are off limits during a certain time frame. No one is allowed to use the fields when they are closed. Any permitted league that uses an indoor field could face fines or lose access for the season. Unauthorized users will receive a warning or citation if caught on closed court.

Ground closure notices are posted on the City’s website at www.citioffrederick.com and on the public information line at 301-600-6970 option 3. Closures are announced weekdays by 2 p.m. and weekends by 8 a.m. Those interested can now sign up for email or text notifications of field closures by visiting the City’s website and selecting “View All” under the press release on the main page. Click Notify Me, add your email address, choose which groups you want to receive messages from, and specify whether you prefer email only or email and phone notifications.
