A recent scam has been targeting members of the Deschutes County community, with unsolicited phone calls directed at individuals. These calls appear to come from the county by “spoofing” Environmental Health’s main phone number. Some recipients have reported being asked to buy a vacuum cleaner.

The Deschutes County Department of Environmental Protection wants to remind residents to never share personally identifiable information with callers they have not contacted or verified as legitimate. If anyone has been a victim of this or a similar scam and has suffered a financial loss, they are encouraged to contact Deschutes County Emergency Dispatch at 541-693-6911.
