In a disappointing game against the Seahawks, the Lions suffered a setback when running back David Montgomery suffered an injury. During the fourth quarter, Montgomery was carted off the field and taken to the locker room. It was evident that Montgomery had an ice pack on his leg, and head coach Dan Campbell later confirmed that it was a thigh injury. Campbell stated that it appeared to be a thigh bruise, but further evaluation would be done the following day.

Despite the unfortunate turn of events, Montgomery had a commendable performance in his first home game as a Lion. He carried the ball 16 times for a total of 67 yards and a touchdown. However, the loss of Montgomery saw rookie Jahmir Gibbs step up to fill the void. Gibbs was able to contribute with seven catches for 17 yards and also made an impact in the passing game, with seven catches for 39 yards. Unfortunately, their efforts were not enough to secure the win, as the Lions ended up falling to the Seahawks by a final score of 37-31.
