DraftKings Offers Odds on U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials, Previewing Potential for Extensive Gambling at Upcoming Games

As the largest sportsbook in the United States, DraftKings has recently started offering odds on the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials in select states, including Indiana where the event takes place. This move is seen as a preview of the potential for extensive gambling at the upcoming US Olympics.

According to SwimSwam, as of Tuesday evening, there are only two races available for betting on this week’s Trials: the men’s 200 backstroke and women’s 200 breaststroke. The men’s 200 backstroke is heavily favored based on the odds provided by bookies such as Ryan Murphy, who is expected to win with an implied probability of victory of 90.9%. In contrast, Lydia Jacoby, who has said she will not swim the race, has the third best chance to win despite not being included in the odds provided by bookies.

In addition to Ryan Murphy, Kate Douglas is also heavily favored to win the women’s 200 breaststroke with an implied probability of victory of 83.33%. She holds the American record and is number one seed in competition. However, it’s important to note that implied probabilities of victory differ significantly from predictions in electoral contests.

Those looking to bet can consider picking Kate Douglas and Ryan Murphy to win their respective events and run them for potential profit. A $10 bet on this parlay could result in a profit of $3.20. However, as with any type of gambling, it’s important to be careful and bet responsibly.
