Dr. Susan Loeb of The Pennsylvania State University’s Ross & Carol Nese College of Nursing will deliver a lecture titled “Improving the Care of Older Adults in Prison: Research and Development of Equitable Care” as part of the Spring Distinguished Lecture Series at the University of Rhode Island College of Nursing. The lecture, which is scheduled for Wednesday, May 1 at 5 pm, will take place in person at the Rhode Island Nursing Education Center in Providence. Before the lecture at 4:00 p.m., a reception will be held in the River Lounge on the third floor where attendees will have the opportunity to meet Dr. Loeb.

Dr. Loeb is a renowned expert in end-of-life care and inmate health, with extensive experience in teaching nursing courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels across various institutions. Since 2004, she has been a tenured professor at Pennsylvania State University, where she also serves as Director of Doctoral Studies for the program. Her research focuses on the unique health care needs of older prisoners with chronic health conditions as they approach the end of their lives, addressing challenges such as restrictive environments and dormitory living conditions that are commonplace in correctional facilities.
