A scoping meeting for the Special Report on Climate Change and Cities in the IPCC’s Seventh Assessment Report is set to take place in Riga, Latvia, on 16 April. This meeting will bring together scientists, academics, and experts to present the structure, focus, and framework of the report. The Special Report on Climate Change and Cities will be the only special report included in AR7.

Experts from around the world are gathering in Riga to discuss the upcoming Special Report on Climate Change and Cities. The meeting will provide an opportunity for these experts to share their knowledge and insights on this critical topic. Leading climate scientists and city experts will be present at the meeting to collaborate with one another and draw on the vast body of knowledge produced by scientists, city networks and IPCC authors.

The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace is hosting a special discussion that will bring together IPCC authors, climate policy experts, and writers who use fiction and narrative to explore the intersection of science and politics. This discussion will provide an overview of the upcoming Special Report on Climate Change and Cities, showcase readings from the Invisible Cities project where authors collaborate with scientific communities to create new fictional representations of cities facing climate challenges, and engage in a broader conversation about how narrative can shape our understanding of climate change.
