The Health Education Pathways program recently hosted a Health Care Professions and Majors Fair at the Titan Student Union Pavilion on March 12. The event aimed to introduce students to the various professional fields and employment opportunities in healthcare and behavioral health, as well as educational pathways to prepare for these fields.

A total of 251 students attended the fair, including CSUF students, community college students and high school students from Anaheim Union High School District and Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District. Fifteen professional organizations participated in the event, many of which are major employers of CSUF graduates and well known in Southern California.

The fair was an excellent opportunity for students to learn about the various professional fields within health care and behavioral health care, as well as educational pathways to pursue careers in these fields. Some of the organizations present at the fair were the Orange County Health Care Agency, Hoag Hospital, Kaiser Permanente, Children’s Hospital of Orange County, the Veterans Affairs Administration and more. CSUF departments such as Aging Studies, Counseling, Kinesiology, Public Health, School of Nursing and Social Work were also represented at the fair.

Students found it helpful to interact with representatives from different organizations and departments to gain a better understanding of what it takes to succeed in their desired field. They were able to ask questions about job requirements, internship opportunities and career paths available within each organization. Overall, the fair was an informative event that provided valuable information for students who are interested in pursuing a career in healthcare or behavioral health care.
