The Catawba Science Center is excited to announce the launch of its new exhibit, Expanding Horizons: The Sun & Beyond. Located in the Hall of Astronomy, just outside the Millholland Planetarium, this permanent exhibition invites visitors to explore our solar system and learn about space travel. From past missions to future endeavors, guests will discover how new technology is shaping the way we explore the galaxy.
One impressive feature of the exhibit is the Mars floor, which allows visitors to experience what life would be like on the Red Planet. For those curious about what it would be like to travel to Mars, the Destination Mars planetarium show sponsored by John and Eileen Leach offers an immersive experience. Narrated by former NASA astronaut Mae Jemison, Destination Mars: The New Frontier takes a close-up look at humanity’s journey to the fourth planet from the Sun.
The creation of this exhibition was made possible by presenting sponsors such as the Candler Foundation, Cannon Foundation, George Foundation, TSH Charitable Foundation, O Leonard Moretz Family Foundation and with the support of the North Carolina Museum of Science Grant Program.
The Catawba Science Center is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. To learn more about this exciting exhibition and display, visit www.CatavbaScience.org/Hall-of-Astronomies/.
