Exploring the Grandeur of Tomoa Narasaki and Akio Noguchi’s Home Climbing Gym: A Tour with Magnus Mitbo

Akio Noguchi and Tomoa Narasaki are two of the most renowned figures in Japanese competitive climbing, often referred to as the kings and queens of comp climbing in Japan. Their gym, located in rural Japan, is nothing short of remarkable, with state-of-the-art facilities that cater to royalty. Recently, Magnus Mitbo had the privilege of visiting their home gym and capturing his experience in a new video release.

The training facility boasts three large bouldering walls, including comp and spray style wall sets, an 18m eight-bolt lead wall, a full-size wall, and a platform lift truck to assist with route setting. There’s also a spacious training room equipped with weights and exercise equipment. Midtbø was impressed by the gym’s grandeur and compared it to a commercial gym exclusively reserved for Narasaki and Noguchi’s use.

Narasaki has achieved multiple gold medals at World Cups and Bouldering World Championships, cementing his status as one of the top competitors in the sport. He has already qualified for the upcoming Olympics in Paris after his impressive performance in previous competitions. On the other hand, Noguchi retired as one of the most decorated boulderers in history with over 21 gold medals at World Cups and World Championships under her belt. She is also known for winning numerous silver and bronze medals during her illustrious career.

With their outstanding achievements and dedication to excellence, Tomoa Narasaki and Akio Noguchi have set high standards in competitive climbing.
