Sanford Luverne has been home to Carol Wieneke for 60 years, and she is leaving the facility with a heavy heart. Over the past six decades, Carol has worked as an LPN at Sanford Luverne and built strong relationships with her colleagues and patients. As she reflects on her time at the institution, she knows that her niche was people.

Carol is known for caring for her patients and staff and treating each person like a family member. Her colleague of 13 years, Cheryl Groen, spoke highly of Carol’s character, noting how much she cares about those around her. Groen knows that although it’s not goodbye for good, Carol will always be her friend forever. She also knows that Carol will stop by to volunteer at the hospital and check in with everyone from time to time.

For Carol, finding joy in the simple moments and choosing to see joy in her work was key to keeping things positive during her time at Sanford Luverne. She believes that if people don’t enjoy their work, then they won’t do well. Although she is leaving the institution where she spent so many years, Carol will always hold a special place in the hearts of those who worked with her there.
