Nick Fink has won gold in the 100m breaststroke at the World Championships in Doha. The American athlete got off to a great start and progressed well, leading despite a charge from Adam Peaty. He finished with a time of 58.57 seconds, claiming his country’s first gold medal at the event. Niccolo Martinenghi came from fifth place at the halfway mark to take second place in 58.84 seconds, after setting a fastest 50 seconds of 31.41 seconds.

Fink now has a medal in every color at the last three World Championships, winning silver in Fukuoka last year in a three-way tie with Arn Cummings and Martinenghi following bronze in Budapest 2022. Splits for Fink were 26.98/31.59, while Martinenghi had splits of 27.08/32.02 and Peaty had splits of 27.53/31.41 seconds respectively.
