On the 16000 block of St. Clair Ave, a large fire broke out at Mike Pusateri Excavating around 4 p.m. According to fire dispatchers, the cause of the fire is still unknown and it is not known if anyone was injured.

The road between McGuffey Drive and McCoy Avenue remains blocked as crews continue to work on extinguishing the blaze. Six fire departments were on scene including Calcutta, City of Liverpool, Negley, Highland Township and Glenmoore to help put out the remaining fire. St. Clair Avenue has now been reopened.

Although there were no reports of injuries, Lt. Randy Schneider of the Calcutta Fire Department confirms that two firefighters suffered minor burns to their faces and necks and were taken to the hospital. The owner of the business estimates the losses at around $750,000. In addition, propane and oxygen tanks exploded during firefighting.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is still ongoing and this developing story will be updated as more information becomes available.
