Fisher House, a national organization, provides free housing for family members of military and veteran patients who are being treated at VA hospitals. The organization’s residential center in Oakland, Pennsylvania, accommodates up to 10 families at a time and helps ease the stress that comes with having a loved one in the hospital. Families staying at Fisher House save an average of $1,900 during their six-day stay.

Fisher House plans to expand its services by building a new facility in O’Hara Township, which is expected to open in 2026. The new facility will provide housing for even more families, including those with relatives in nursing homes, hospices or rehabilitation at the VA hospital. The construction cost of the Fisher House is $9 million, and the organization is working on fundraising for $3 million.

The organization is seeking corporate sponsorships to help bridge the funding gap for the new facility. They hope to continue providing support and housing to military and veteran families in need. With the help of donations and community support, they can make a difference in the lives of those who sacrifice so much for our country.
