On Monday, Microsoft announced that Sam Altman, the co-founder and recently ousted CEO of OpenAI, will join the company to lead a new AI research team. Satya Nadella, owner of Microsoft, made the announcement in a post on the X platform.
Altman responded on the X social network and stated that the mission of OpenAI was continuing. Microsoft has invested billions of dollars in OpenAI and has integrated its technology into its own products such as the Bing search engine. OpenAI is known for developing ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence tool.
The departure of Altman from OpenAI’s board of directors took place on Friday. The board cited lack of consistency in his communications as the reason for his ouster. Several other leading figures at OpenAI also announced their departures following Altman’s departure, including Greg Brockman.
The first version of ChatGPT was launched on November 30, 2022, which marked a significant development in the field of artificial intelligence.
