On April 27th, the Valley City State University (VCSU) Castle Club participated in a shooting competition at North Dakota State University. Kaden Shaffer, a freshman studying Fisheries and Wildlife Science, won first place in Men’s Singles Trap with a score of 93 out of 100. VCSU’s top scorers included Shaffer, Logan Hinn, Brooke Gaudry, Grant Larson and Derek Jacobs.
Dr. Nick Galt, club advisor and professor, expressed his excitement about the event and praised the competitiveness of the sport. He noted how great it was to compete against other collegiate teams in the region. VCSU plans to field an intercollegiate shooting team in the upcoming fall season.
Despite the windy conditions, Shaffer was pleased with his performance and emphasized the mutual respect among competitors, especially during intense shootouts.
