Last month, rumors circulated that wide receiver Kelvin Ridley would be joining the Titans, much to the surprise of many. It was believed that the Jaguars and Patriots were in prime position to land his services. However, general manager Ran Carton was caught off guard by how things unfolded. He revealed that even the Titans initially thought they wouldn’t be able to make a move for Ridley due to budget constraints.

Despite these constraints, Carton, along with president of football operations Chad Brinker and head coach Brian Callahan, began discussing the possibility of acquiring Ridley after several Titans players left for other teams during free agency. After some deliberation, the team decided to go for it the next morning. The speed of the deal was impressive, with team owner Amy Adams Strunk confirming it while on another call with Ridley, who congratulated her on the move.

Carton attributed the teamwork within the Titans organization for making the deal happen and hoped it would lead to a successful season under Callahan.
