The Super Bowl field this year is looking much better than it did last year, with logos on the 25-yard lines, a Big Shield at the 50, and team names and logos in each end zone. The players are already warming up on the field, and the grass seems to be working as intended without any slipping or sliding.
Despite this progress, players are still not making cuts at full speed, so the real test will come during the game. Last year’s field was an embarrassment to the league, and the league office blamed the players for not wearing the right shoes when owners raised conditions during March 2023 annual meetings.
The negative impact of last year’s poor field conditions makes it all the more crucial for the league to ensure everything goes smoothly this year. It is not entirely the players’ fault for last year’s mishap.
