Latter & Blum, a leading real estate brokerage in Louisiana with offices throughout the state, has been acquired by Compass Real Estate, the largest independent real estate agency in the United States. The acquisition was confirmed by Lori McCarthy, lead broker for Latter & Blum’s Acadiana offices. Compass sees this strategic move as an opportunity to expand its presence along the Gulf Coast, as Latter & Blum was the region’s leading company with sales of $3.6 billion last year.

Latter & Blum, founded in 1916 and based in New Orleans, currently operates with 32 offices across four states and has over 3,100 agents working under its brand. This acquisition would significantly increase the number of Kompas agents, which currently amount to nearly 15,000 at the end of last year. If all agents from Latter & Blum remain with the company after transitioning to the Compass name, this would result in an increase of approximately 21%.

McCarthy expressed her enthusiasm about the partnership between Latter & Blum and Compass Real Estate. “I am thrilled to join a company that is known for its excellence and shares our core values,” she said. “This acquisition marks a significant step forward for both companies in the real estate market.”

The two companies plan to initially operate as a co-brand before eventually transitioning to the Compass name. The details of the deal have not been released publicly at this time.
