Dozens of rides and attractions at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in Lake Buena Vista, Florida were closed Monday due to the presence of a black bear spotted in a tree at the theme park. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FVC) confirmed the sighting and said staff were working to capture and relocate the bear. While ride closures are not unusual, it is unusual to have so many attractions close at the same time shortly after the park opens for the day. Rides listed as temporarily closed in the My Disney Experience app include popular attractions such as Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean. The full list of closed attractions from 11:00am includes Under the Sea – Voyage of the Little Mermaid, Walt Disney World Railway – Fantasyland, Walt Disney World Railway – Frontierland, Walt Disney World Railway – Main Street, USA, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, Grand Thunder Mountain Railroad, Hall of Presidents, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Aladdin’s Magic Carpets, Pirates of the Caribbean, Swiss Family Treehouse, Country Bear Jamboree, Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island. Magic Kingdom hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., according to Disney’s website. Further updates on the situation are awaited.
