GREENPORT — A neighborhood health-related facility was evacuated Saturday following the smell of gas started to fill the developing.

Nicely Nov Urgent Care, at 446 Fairview Avenue in Greenport was evacuated in the course of the incident.

About 12:47 p.m., Columbia County 911 dispatched the Greenport Fire Division to the place following a caller reported the smell of gas.

Employees and individuals evacuated the small business prior to firefighters arrived, Greenport Fire Chief John Onufrychuk, Jr. stated.

Firefighters searched the interior and exterior of the developing to find the supply of the odor.

The issue was on the roof of the developing, Onufrichuk stated.

Firefighters located a broken pipe in a heating unit on the roof of neighboring Aspen Dental, Onufrichuk stated.

Aspen Dental was closed at the time of the incident.

Firefighters turned off the gas from the rooftop unit.

Onufrichuk stated developing upkeep was notified of the predicament and the National Grid was requested to the scene.

All firefighters returned to duty at 1:31 p.m
