The City of Hopewell Health Department and Wegmans have teamed up to host two shingles vaccine clinics at the Pennington Borough Community Hall on April 17 and June 19, 2024. These clinics are aimed at providing adults with the necessary protection against shingles and its complications. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it is recommended that adults over the age of 50 receive two doses of the shingles vaccine to prevent this debilitating illness.

Additionally, individuals who are 19 years old and above and have a weakened immune system due to illness or therapy should also receive two doses of the vaccine as they are at a higher risk of developing shingles. The CDC advises that area residents sign up for one or both vaccines during the upcoming clinics. It’s important to note that if you only receive one dose at the clinic, you will need to visit a nearby pharmacy such as Wegmans to obtain the second dose.
