Parents of children in the Shenandoah Central Health District are being reminded to get their kids vaccinated before the school year begins. Rachel Duman, a communications specialist for the district, emphasized the importance of scheduling vaccination appointments early in the summer to ensure that students are up-to-date on their vaccinations before they start school.
If children are not fully immunized by the start of school, they may not be able to attend as scheduled. To schedule a vaccination appointment for your child, you can contact your local health department. Dumene also mentioned that there are special appointments reserved for school-age children at local health departments and urged parents to make sure their kids’ immunizations were returned before the start of the school year.
Dumene warned that appointments can fill up quickly, so it’s important for parents to prioritize getting their kids vaccinated on time. Vaccinations are by appointment only and after-hours appointments are available until 5:30 pm to accommodate parents who work during regular business hours.
