During the opening of the 67th Wyoming Legislature, Miss Wyoming USA Beck Bridger sang the national anthem. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter reported on the session and highlighted Governor Mark Gordon’s State of the State address.
In his speech, Gordon emphasized his focus on property tax relief and promoting Wyoming’s strong state economy. He pointed out that the state’s gross domestic product is at an all-time high and unemployment is at its lowest level since 2008.
Gordon also addressed the impact of the Biden administration’s energy policies on Wyoming and the energy industry. He urged lawmakers to prioritize their efforts towards passing a conservative budget that keeps general fund spending at the same level as 2021.
Gordon’s proposed budget aims to address significant needs, such as property tax relief for those who truly need it, while taking into account potential impacts on county resources, roads, and schools when considering bills related to high property taxes. In addition to these topics, Governor Gordon also discussed education, mental health, and border security in his address. We will continue to provide updates on more details from Gordon’s State of State in future stories.
