On Friday morning, a 38-year-old Owensboro man was arrested after he fired a gun inside a business on Triplett Street. The Owensboro Police Department received the call just after 9 a.m. and quickly arrived at the scene to find no suspect in sight. However, detectives were able to locate the weapon in a garage on Chesterfield Drive, which was only ten minutes away from the crime scene.
The suspect, Shane Nitman, was taken in for questioning and later arrested and booked into the Daviess County Jail. He faces charges of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, receiving stolen property (firearm), tampering with physical evidence and discharging a weapon within city limits. The police did not reveal which business the shooting took place at.
