After an impressive 14-year tenure, Harry Kruger, the celebrated director of Housemarkue, has announced his departure from the studio. Kruger expressed his deep gratitude for his time at Housemarkue, stating that each project was a dream come true. His contributions were instrumental in transforming the studio from arcade games to ambitious projects such as Returnal, a title that marked a significant turning point for Housemarkue.

Kruger’s departure was a difficult decision but he remains enthusiastic about the future of the studio and its team. He expressed confidence in the bright prospects of Housemarkue, supported by Sony’s continued support and absorption of it as an internal team in 2021.

Ilari Kuittinen, co-founder and CEO of Housemarkue, paid tribute to Kruger’s significant influence on the development of the studio. Under his leadership, Housemarkue achieved several milestones including the revival of arcade gaming with Returnal’s success. Kuittinen sees this moment as an ideal opportunity for new leadership to take over and continue building on the foundations laid by Kruger.

Housemarkue is now ready to embark on a major new project: according to Kuittinnen, “We are preparing to create ‘the next big hit’ from Finland,” continuing the legacy and innovation introduced during Kruger’s era.”
