The IMF team, led by Uma Ramakrishnan, Deputy Director of the European Department of the IMF, has begun meetings with Ukrainian authorities and other partners in Kyiv to discuss ongoing support. During these discussions, they will focus on the economic policy goals of the Ukrainian authorities and the challenges facing the Ukrainian economy.

On February 13th, the IMF team will participate in an inaugural meeting of the Management Board of the Ukrainian Capacity Building Fund. This gathering will bring together Ukrainian authorities, development partners, and IMF staff to discuss priorities for strengthening Ukraine’s capacity and the IMF’s support for this task.

Following these discussions, a mission led by Gavin Gray will begin talks with Ukrainian authorities in Warsaw as part of the third review of the IMF-supported Extended Fund Program. Ukraine received its third tranche of financing worth about $900 million from the IMF under this program in December 2023.

As previously reported, the IMF has published an amount that Ukraine needs in 2024.
