It is important to critically evaluate the evidence before accepting a claim of diversity. While there have been studies that have found a correlation between company performance and diversity, the relationship is not always clear-cut. Some McKinsey reports have argued that there is a strong link between diversity and earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) using a particular methodology. However, it is important to note that this measure may not be as accurate as other ways of measuring performance. A more natural measure of performance is total shareholder return (TSR), which reflects what investors actually get from investing in the company. Ultimately, it is up to us to carefully examine the evidence before making any conclusions about the relationship between diversity and business success.
