Kentucky’s remarkable baseball season continues as they head to Omaha, Nebraska for their first ever College World Series appearance. The Wildcats secured their spot in the CVS by defeating three-time national champion Oregon State in a nail-biting game that went on until midnight on Monday. They won Game 2 with a one-run victory after an impressive 10-0 victory in the series opener on Saturday.

Their journey to Omaha is a testament to their hard work, determination and team effort. Despite being picked by SEC coaches to finish fifth in the East Division in the preseason poll, Kentucky exceeded expectations with their outstanding performance throughout the season. They had the best start to conference play in SEC history, winning 14 of their first 15 games and finishing 22-8 in league play during the regular season. They also clinched a share of the league regular season title for just the second time in program history.

With a record of 45-14, Kentucky enters the College World Series with the most wins in a single season in school history. This is their eighth 40-win season and the first time they have achieved this feat back-to-back seasons. Head coach Nick Mingione was named SEC Coach of the Year and five players received All-SEC honors for their exceptional performances throughout the season.

As they prepare to make history and prove themselves on college baseball’s biggest stage, Kentucky remains determined to continue pushing forward and achieving greatness both on and off the field.
