On Sunday, Mariel Thompson of Canada won her third consecutive women’s ski cross gold medal at the event in Georgia. This weekend’s successful performance marks Thompson’s fourth win in five races and she is now leading the season standings.
In her 132nd World Cup start, Thompson emphasized the importance of clean skiing and minor adjustments to maintain speed. She also focused on being fast and powerful out of the gate as she won every heat to earn her 65th World Cup podium and 29th career victory.
Marielle Berger Sabatel from France finished with a silver medal while Talina Gantenbein from Switzerland took home the bronze. India Sherrett of Cranbrook, BC finished fourth in the final.
The Canadian skiers had a successful weekend, with Thompson leading the way with her impressive performance.
