SOLDEU, Andorra — Swiss skier Marco Odermat broke a 23-year-old men’s record for most Globe Cup points in a single season on Saturday right after dominating the giant slalom in the Globe Cup final.

Odermat won the race by a whopping two.11 seconds more than runner-up Henrik Kristoffersen of Norway.

The victory raised Odermat’s total to two,042 points and surpassed the preceding mark of two,000 set by Austrian fantastic Hermann Mayer in the 1999-2000 season.

The all round record, involving guys and females, is held by Slovenian standout Tina Maze, who scored two,414 points when she won the women’s all round title in 2013.

“It wasn’t straightforward these days. I was nervous once again about these damn two,000 points,” Odermat stated. “Now with one more win, additional than two seconds ahead, I never know what to say.”

Odermat, who is the Olympic champion, accomplished one more greatest mark with his 13th win of the season. No skier has ever won several races in a single campaign, and only Mayer, Ingemar Stenmark and Marcel Hirscher have achieved the feat in the previous.

The all round record for wins in a season is held by Mikaela Shiffrin, who won 17 instances en route to the 2018-19 women’s all round title.
