During the holiday season, there is a risk of an increase in respiratory illnesses including COVID-19. In response to this, the Massachusetts Coalition for Health Equity is advocating for the reinstatement of a universal mask mandate in hospitals and other healthcare settings. The group was established during the pandemic to protect individuals who are particularly vulnerable to COVID-19.
In May, many health systems lifted their mask mandates in response to the easing of public health restrictions. However, the coalition is urging these establishments to review their masking policies in light of the upcoming holiday season. To further emphasize its position, the group held a virtual press conference on Monday to address the issue.
The Massachusetts Coalition for Health Equity’s efforts to push for the reinstatement of the mask mandate in health care facilities caught the attention of the Boston Business Journal, highlighting the importance of the initiative.
