Metso has been awarded a significant order by Freeport-McMoRan to supply tank material handling solutions for their El Paso power refinery in Texas, USA. The value of the order, exceeding EUR 10 million, was recorded in the received orders of the Minerals segment in the 4th quarter of 2013. The scope of Metso’s supply includes Outotec anode preparation and cathode stripping machines, both based on proven designs that ensure high safety and long-term reliability.
Freeport-McMoRan is pleased to work with Metso on this important project as they modernize their power refinery to improve the efficiency and quality of copper production. The solution combines Metso’s many years of experience with similar equipment with modern robotic technology to meet the material handling requirements of existing tanks.
