‘The greatest of all time’ – Shifrin wins once again in the giant slalom Solde
AN HOUR AGO
Shiffrin’s record season has currently noticed her overtake Ingemar Stenmark at the leading of the all-time table with her 87th win earlier in March. The 28-year-old currently completed final weekend’s giant slalom crystal globe, along with the general and slalom titles.
And she capped a memorable year with her 14th Planet Cup win of the season right after yet another outstanding show, holding on in the final sector to deny Stjernesund a renowned victory.
With Shiffrin’s giant slalom crystal globe currently in location, focus turned to the battle for second location amongst Lara Gut-Behrami and Martha Bassineau. And it was the Swiss star who took it, with a fourth location finish that saw her take second in the GS standings with 482, ahead of Bassin with 475.
The slope might have been quick, but it was a steep, hard and difficult course to finish the season’s competitors.
The skiers had to contend with a rough and uneven track that attracted a lot of focus from the race organizers who attempted to strengthen the situations.
On the other hand, that did not avoid a series of early exits as Petra Vlhova, Frederica Brignone and Sarah Hector – two Olympic champions, a single planet champion – have been 3 of the 5 DNFs in the 1st run.
Alexander Aamodt Kilde, Shiffrin’s companion, shocked the American with an interview right after the race and asked her what she produced of her accomplishment.
She replied with a laugh, “I really feel excellent, this is wonderful.”
“I really feel wonderful and all these girls are fighting in the second run.” Congratulations, I barely squeaked by that. Congratulations to all girls. I decided to come back and do it all once again subsequent year.
“Just preserve going. I am going back to the US, I am going to the beach.”
