As winter approaches, the ski season is almost upon us. Several ski resorts are located near Kansas City and St. Louis in Missouri, including Hidden Valley Ski Resort in Wildwood. Tony Santora, general manager of Hidden Valley, has been preparing the resort for the upcoming season all summer long.
Santora explained that the resort makes all the snow that skiers use, and it takes them about four days of continuous snowfall to make enough snow to open. He described the snowmaking process, which depends on the wet bulb temperature to determine when they are able to make snow. As they prepare for the season opener, staff are being brought in and beginners can also take advantage of the lessons offered at the resort.
The winter season is an exciting time for ski enthusiasts, and resorts like Hidden Valley are gearing up for the start of the ski season. With skiing, snowboarding, and beginner lessons available at these Missouri ski resorts, there’s something for everyone to enjoy during this festive time of year. Anticipation is building as these resorts continue to prepare for a great winter season ahead!
