The Healthcare Cyber Attack has caused significant disruption for many hospitals and providers, with some facing challenges in obtaining information from health plans regarding payments and necessary flexibilities. In response to these difficulties, the Departments of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Office of Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR), and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) have released a national guide to health plan contact information.

In a letter introducing the guide, HHS, ASPR and CMS are urging hospitals and health systems to review the voluntary cybersecurity goals released earlier this year. Additionally, resources provided by the AHA Change Healthcare Cyber Attack Update website can be accessed for the latest cyber attack information. These resources include CMS’s announcement on expedited and advance payments to affected hospitals and physicians, frequently asked questions, and an information bulletin on actions states can take to help Medicaid providers affected by the cyber attack.

For additional questions or information, individuals may contact Molli Smith, AHA Group Vice President of Policy, at mollismith@aha.org.
